Why the fuck are we here?!
Two moms, zero chill, and a serious case of California withdrawal
Why the fuck are we here?!
Don’t be assholes!!

Two months. Zero chill. And in a serious case of California withdrawal. And a serious case of California withdrawal. Someday we'll get it. It's way harder than it sounds. Why though?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Because you can get all giggly and silly and we're like, I think because we're like ready to start talking. And so we're like, okay, what do I say? And then we're like already thinking of what our show's. Like the next thing.
SPEAKER_01I know. And I'm like, um, two moms. Yes. One day, one day. One day we'll get it. Maybe. No, we have to. We have to. Well, we'll do it. I mean, we should. Yes. Maybe.
SPEAKER_00Um, what are you doing? What's going on? I don't know. I'm just there's so many things in the world. I don't, girl, we don't have time for all that.
SPEAKER_01Girl, the world is uh an interesting place right now.
SPEAKER_00That's an understatement. I know. It's raining. I know, I love it. I do too. The weather's kind of been all over the place everywhere. Like everyone we talk to, it's so up and down. Like where we are in Houston, it's normally hot as balls, but why die? Yeah. And it's like cold. Well, I but And I love it. I'm not complaining.
SPEAKER_01I'm welcoming it for, however, I don't know what that means for the summer. Like to be like we're used to like earthquake weather, right? So like when it's a certain way, we're like, oh my god, it's me. Yeah. Big one's coming. Yeah. But here I don't know. I haven't figured it out yet. But I feel like I feel like we're gonna roast this summer. If we have like a really, I mean, relatively good April, because it hasn't been like that hot. It's been a little humid, but we're having like rain and cold weather. Like I feel like we're screwed.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Maybe.
SPEAKER_00And speaking of cold weather, it's twin day. Twin day! Look! We didn't even plan this.
SPEAKER_01This I swear, we did not plan this, but we look cute. We do. With our like long black hair. We're just we're a little bit cute.
SPEAKER_00We're a little bit cute. A little bit cute. You're like Alexis. A little bit Alexis. Oh my god. If they could be guests on our show, I would die at How Do You Love Hand. Oh my god. Just one. So reach out, Dan Levy. Oh my god. Yeah, please. I'm like low-key. Like low hit. I know, me too. And low-key. Like I know. That's next episode. Okay. So today. So okay.
SPEAKER_01So it's raining. On the way here, okay. I saw a house. Actually, there's like two in our neighborhood. But I just like a little bit over for her. With tarbs still on their roofs. I know.
SPEAKER_00So we had a crazy tornado uh in the fall. Yeah. Our houses were affected. Um, ours was a little bit worse severe. Yes. Um we were out of our house for 74 days, but who's counting? Not her. Um I mean, literally by the second I was counting. Our insurance took really good care of us. Ours did too. We were with it and then they were right. But it was a process. It's a huge process. And that's our neighbors are still construction has just halted.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because of insurance and mortgage company, and it's just it's again, get it, there's a process of not even knocking that. They have to do their job, all of that. But like, where is that? Like insurance has been a thing for how long you know what? Actually, go ahead. I'm gonna look that up. What? How long insurance?
SPEAKER_01How long insurance?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't know how long insurance is a thing. Look it up because I'm curious too. But here's the thing okay, I know that there's all kinds of insurance scams all over the place, and I know that they have to do their due diligence. They can't just be, you know, sending checks and and handing out cash left and right. That I totally understand. But when you have a natural disaster that you physically can see, right?
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, so like like, oh, two trees fell on my roof. Two giant oak trees were on our house. Yes. That I didn't do that. Right. I didn't cut them down and place them there.
SPEAKER_01No, like and your house was not the only house damaged. Same with mine. Like my house, like we had no back fence. Our our spa was like a mess, our front door was bashed in, like we had damage, you had like even more damage than he did.
SPEAKER_00Four thousand years. Four thousand years for what? Insurance, some various form for insurance four thousand years. Like the dinosaurs had insurance? Yeah. So like and that didn't help. Clearly, that didn't work out.
SPEAKER_01Insurance company did not have to pay out. Which was more money for our deductible was not, dude. Are you serious? Yeah. So they've been scamming us for 4,000 years. Yes. Yeah. I swear. When I'm paying this amount of money, I've never put in an insurance claim for anything, right? For my homeowner's insurance. And I tell you that a tornado has struck my house. You come out and you see that the tornado has struck my house and my neighbors, and you can't get through the street because trees are down and cars are flipped over.
SPEAKER_00This one was weird. It like ping-ponged through our neighborhood. Yes. So literally, like very crazy. Like our street, the street we live in on is pretty long. And but not one of the longest streets in our neighborhood. And half of it got destroyed. The other half looked like nothing touched it. Oh yeah. My best friend lives a couple streets over from Casey. And their house wasn't touched. It didn't look like I mean it. Like nothing happened. Literally like out of lease out of place. Nothing. Like everything's. I called her to check on them. And she was like, what are you talking about? I was like, oh, okay. I just have two trees on our house. Yeah. But you know, no problem. Our house was on the news. Yes. That was pretty crazy.
SPEAKER_01The the helicopters were flying above. And did you know that it was not a named tornado? Which do you name tornadoes?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So because it wasn't named, that's why FEMA didn't help us.
SPEAKER_00Even though Shut up. Yes. So it's funny. That's like not funny, ha ha, but like funny uh you're trying not to cry kind of thing. So we get like tornado warnings all the time, right? And it's like I mean, not that we don't care, but it's just like one of those things where you're like, okay. But I think we were a little bit more relaxed. Well, and we get the notification, right? And we're like, okay, it's not a big deal. And so we were like, okay, um, my oldest son and his friends were all hanging out. Yeah. And I was like, you know what? I like it was like something out of a movie. I was cleaning my bathroom, so I looked crazy. I was like, not, you know, I was in like cleaning clothes or whatever. Girls. And I was like, you know what? Just come downstairs because we got the notification and then a second one came in, and that had never happened before. So I was like, you know what? Just come downstairs. Our living room is like the center point of our house. So we're away from the windows, all of that. I was like, just come down. And my oldest son was like, Mom, that literally happens all the time. Like, we're fine. Yeah. Everyone's like sitting in there chatting. And then my we we I looked outside our front window and I was like, oh shit. Like the wind is like really insane. Yeah. And then I saw like uh and then I came back into the living room telling everyone, whoa, the wind's really crazy. Then it just stopped. And then my husband went outside and he's like, came back in and was like, oh, two trees are on our house. And I'm thinking, we have to do it. So you didn't hear the trees? No crash? No. Okay. Nothing. Okay. Which I don't know if it's because we had 115 mile per hour. Well, I was gonna say the wind is so intense and so loud. Yeah. You know, so loud. And I'm like, no way. Yeah. Like I thought he was messing around. Look outside, sure enough, two big trees. So we say all that to say our insurance took great care of us, but it was such a process. It was just and and they were so great. I won't say who our insurance is because I'm not trying to you know, but they were wonderful and our agent was wonderful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But we were very lucky actually, because these people are still waiting. Yes.
SPEAKER_00They're still multiple places that are or multiple houses in our neighborhood that still have tarps and you guys, it's the end of April, and this happened in November of last year.
SPEAKER_01So it's been many, many months. People should have a roof over their heads.
SPEAKER_00Literally. Literally, the roof is gone. And I just feel like for those family, because just us being out those 74 days was and and we were fortunate we got an Airbnb. Yes, you guys and we're very lucky. Yes, but it's it's a lot, it's stressful, you know. You're not in your home, you're not with your own items, and you know, we would be like, Oh shoot, we gotta go pick this up from the house, and which luckily we could access, and it wasn't super far.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, kids were still able to go to school and you know, yeah, just crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then that was right before the holidays.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, it was the same week as Thanksgiving. That was crazy. So for us, I was sick that day. So you were like doing housework. I was sick. I literally fell asleep on my couch. Yeah. Um, and I sort of like woke up, you know, I was in and out of consciousness, but I woke up, I had to go to the bathroom. So I get up and I go, and I noticed my um the blinds were closed because my husband just closes blinds all the time. And it drives me crazy. So like my natural instinct is just like, ah, I feel and like so I unscrewed. Yeah. And when I did, the sky was so dark. Yeah. It was oddly dark. It was like a movie. It was. I always say I had my like Dorothy moment for sure. Because it was like it was super dark, and somebody had told me when the sky turns green, you're in trouble. I'd heard that. I'd asked somebody interesting. Yes. So I was like, okay. So I go to the bathroom, come back out, and the sky just didn't look right. So I tell my daughter, who's she was in the living room watching a movie, and I said, Um, keep your eye on the sky. Yeah. Because it looks funny to me. Yeah. Then I go to the kitchen and I said to my son, and we have windows like our whole back. Yeah, I love your windows. And I said to my son, like, keep an eye on the sky, because to me it looks really weird. And right when I said that, you could see the sky. I'm not kidding you. It went from like dark gray to this sort of greenish hue. It was really weird. Creepy. It was so creepy. And then my daughter, she was on her phone, right? And she goes, uh, she was looking at it and it was um it said like tornado watch or something.
SPEAKER_00So there's two different or two different things. Yeah, watch and there's warning. Yeah. The warning is when it's like here, basically. No, the warning is like um when it's in like simity, okay. Watch is means it means it touched down by spy.
SPEAKER_01So it's one or the other, right? Yeah. So she goes, Mom, and she right when she says that, she runs into the kitchen. Okay. My son sees the sky change. I see the sky change. He jumps up from the table. Okay. My husband was outside because we have a basketball. You know, one of the so he, you know, so he he was putting it down. So God forbid it blows away, right? And you have a trampoline in the backyard. So he puts that down, he and I just see like in the back, I saw the leaves turning. And right as the leaves are turning, the sky's green, my husband literally runs in the back door. Yeah. And when he opened the door, my ears went and the pressure just like shifted everything. It was like a tunnel. Yes, yes. And you could hear the wind, and I just yelled, Run run to the pantry. So we did. We all three of us went to the pantry. Uh-huh. My husband went to the living room, and I don't know why. He was like trying to close blinds. I think it was just like you're not bigly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, you're just needing to do whatever you can to protect, right? Like, okay, you guys are good. I'm gonna Yes. Yeah, like but you just hear this like z right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And all this pounding, and then it's nothing. Yeah, that was creepy. So creepy. And you're like, I open the pantry door like slowly. Yeah. And I was like, I think we call each other like right. Yes, right away. I'd like I talked to you, I talked to like our other friends, right? And you just hear our other neighbor like ran to our door. He's like, Are you okay? Yeah. But like you like, you walk out and like, okay, the kitchen's okay, but a trampoline from like probably three or four houses. Yeah, ours was fine. Flew at our window. It one of the power cables or something stopped it from actually hitting the window. Otherwise, oh my god, what a nightmare.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Our neighbor's trampoline was in a ball, no exaggeration, in our behind our back window. We thought it was ours, and then we were like, oh no, ours is way off in the way over there in the corner. It was just it was crazy. It was my son. My my oldest son's friend, his car was in the front, got smashed to the ground. Yeah, I mean, it was not a brand new car, so I was destroyed. Yeah, your car got messed up too. Yeah, but that it was it was insane. But it was the whole the whole thing is okay, why the heck insurance? When yes, and we've been with this insurance company since I was pregnant with our oldest son, who's gonna be 17. Right. So, like we've paid, we've never missed anything. We have so many policies with them life, car, home, you know, all these things. And like again, they took good care of us, but it's a process. It's like it takes too long. I promise you, I'm not I didn't throw trees on my house. Like, you know, like come on now.
SPEAKER_01And then it's the more across their their roof, right? So it's like I yes, they're babbling, babbling back into it.
SPEAKER_00But like, come on, yeah, like at some point. Yes, it's just it's just too much. And then so that goes into all these policies of like retail stores, your return, like just all those different things where you're like, okay, I respect and I've worked retail. I'm a firm believer that everybody should work retail for at least one year after high school. Minimum. One year retail and Christmas Christmas. And I think they should work food service too. Yes, because it gives you an appreciation of the bullshit that people put up with. Number one. Number two, just like being like, oh, they're human beings too. Right. Let's stop treating people like crap. Yeah, can't stand it when you go somewhere and people like and I'm like uber protective. Like our favorite coffee shop. Like, if I see someone like getting a little crazy, I'm like ready to pounce and I like have to evaluate, listen, wait a minute. Let's hear what they say. I just don't like that. Like either. Especially when people are just doing their job, right? Like, but there's a fine line there, right? Because when people are super rude or like your experience when you were trying to return Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01Here's what I don't like. And every single one of you I know has experienced this, whether it's on the phone or in person, like at a store or whatever. So um my daughter got something from her birth for her birthday. She's trying to return it, right? So we're like And wasn't trying to get money or anything. Oh, just shade. It's like not that big of a deal. Yeah. And what she was trying to get was on the shelf. So it wasn't like three months, like her birthday's January 10th. And we were trying to exchange it like three days or four days later. Yeah. Like it's not that big a deal. So anyway, so um we're like still had tags. Yeah, I still had tags. Yeah, it was it was fine. It was just she just it was something different than she needed. So we're like, hey, um, she got this for her birthday and we need you know, something different.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And they were like, um well, we can't, uh, you know, you uh you need, you know, your receipt or whatever, right? Because it's for her birthday. And they're like, Yeah, we need the receipt. And I was like, Okay, um, I get that. I heard you. Yes, I heard you. I totally understand. Oh, gotcha, boo. Yeah, but I can't get the receipt because this was for her birthday. Yeah. So I need to purchase it. Yes.
SPEAKER_00So we just need to exchange it for the right. I think that's awkward because you're not gonna reach out to the person who purchased it and be like, hey, she doesn't like this, so we're exchanging it. Like that's always I mean, and some people forget to do a gift certificate or a gift. A gift card or a receipt or what I get it, but I'm not asking for money back. I'm not asking for money. I'm not this isn't like some raggedy piece of whatever that I'm trying to pull one over on you.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it's just it's an it's just a quick exchange. It's not that big of a deal. You can use like, you know, Target will allow you to, which we don't go to, will allow you to use like your your uh ID, yes, right, for you know, a dollar per year or whatever, like that or whatever. Yeah, kind of just exchange, but it's like they're reading from a script and I know there's a policy, yeah. Totally get that, and like I appreciate that, but there also has to be a little bit of flexibility and common sense when it comes to to certain things. So we went back another day, got a different person, and they were like, Oh yeah, no problem. It's like really one day to the next, you get a different person, and it's fine. Right. It drives me crazy.
SPEAKER_00Well, and two, and like you said, with the ID thing. And I think that's so smart because you've done $400 worth of returns that you just didn't have the receipt for. That's that's flack. That's bullshit. But and even like E ATV does that. Like I had I uh my husband got actually when we were at the Airbnb, he got like those coffee pots, right? Uh-huh. Well, we have an espresso, he accidentally grabbed the Keurig once, and I'm like, that doesn't work. But they took it back, like no problem. Right. And so not crazy. Yeah, so I'm like, you know, I just think there's give and take. There's I understand that there's a process, I respect it, but there's also a way to go about it versus like kind of like hard line, no, fuck you. Right.
SPEAKER_01Like well, because there's every situation is a little bit different. Yeah, it has to be some like some human, there's there's some variance to things. Everything is not like you said, like hardlined at once. Right. But let's talk about HEV when we're talking about HV. Yes, I love H V. You guys, HEV is facing a boy con over sales of halal meat from Crescent Foods. That's by the way, they've been selling this since 2022. Okay, so just right now, these people are like people are getting their panties in a bunch. Yeah, but it's the what do they call it? Um hold on. The it's part of the woke agenda, and they're calling it Islamification. I'm dying over this. This is the dumbest, can most insane.
SPEAKER_00Can we just say what is there's there's no I just stuff like this just pisses me off and I don't even know what to say about it. Like I do know what to say, but it's just like mind-blown, right? Like Since 2022, you've had no issue.
SPEAKER_01Right? It hasn't even been on your radar. Right.
SPEAKER_00But now, with everything going on in the radar, now it's on your radar. Right. And and what is if you don't like it, don't purchase it. That's my thing. Like Well, yeah, it's not a big deal. You've you haven't been purchasing it this whole time, so just I don't continue to not purchase it. I don't know. I don't I don't care for butt plugs. I'm not gonna be mad if that's what your thing is, and you and you want to buy those, cool. Good on you. More power to you. Yeah, that's not my thing. But I'm not gonna be up in arms about it because you choose to do not you. I know you're not.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I could care less. Yeah. In fact, I will tell you right now, because there's a lot of people that prefer to purchase up. No. Oh you wish halal meat. Okay, so let me okay, so I wrote some stuff down. I'm gonna share it. Okay, listen, okay. So okay, halal meat. It is prepared under Islamic dietary laws. Right. Okay. Now this is pretty basic, okay? They want it to be a humane slaughter, a healthy animal, right? And then it's gotta be um safe during transport and housing.
SPEAKER_00But which seems pretty darn good to me. I would rather have that. But hold on, isn't it the same, like the same concept? Not the same, I know it's very different, but like as um kosher, yes, right? It's it's not that different, right? But it's the same concept, and again, why is respecting someone's religion and beliefs and and what they choose? Like a lot of people, and and this is for uh Catholics, like whatever, don't eat pork, right? Right. So, okay, but the pork is right here in the store. You can eat it, but they're not, but they're not up in arms because there's pork being sold. They just don't purchase it. They just don't purchase it.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. This is stupid. This is just another whiny bitch moment. Yeah, for sure. For sure. You know, considering we're four years into this and you haven't even fucking noticed, right, and now it's a problem for for you when it's not a pro this is not a pro this is not a problem. This is a manufactured problem. Right. You've come up with it, but it's and I don't know why. Maybe it's because the Epstein files still need to be released. Oh, I'm gonna say it till the day I die, and if it doesn't get done. But Epstein, Epstein release files. But that's the files. Oh, yeah, just a million times. By the way. Okay, so here's here's okay. So, and then it's it says in the slaughterer invoking Allah's name. So I guess that means I don't know. I'm like super slow. But for halal versus kosher, hold on, I'm reading this thing. Okay, so kosher follows the Jewish dietary law, right? Right? Its roots are in the Torah. Um, okay.
SPEAKER_00So basically basically it's the same, it essentially the same thing, but it's just based on on your religious beliefs, which is again fine. Why is that? I just I can't comprehend why that's an issue. It's not when you know what I thought was cool, side note, squirrel, because that's how my brain works. That's why it sounds like I'm interrupting Casey all the time. I promise you, I'm trying not to be trying, but it's okay. I literally my brain just is like, oh yeah, you thought of this. Say it out loud. It's fucking I annoy myself with it, so I'm sorry I had to call it. But like it it's the same thing, like coke does uh kosher coke, and it's because it's made with real sugar, and there's a couple other factors into it that like help. Like again, why is that a problem? Why do you care? I it but it but it goes along with everything, especially right now.
SPEAKER_01I mean, we just have to we have to be mad at somebody for something. So you know, they're you know, they're unfortunately the target right now. So I mean, you know, why not? Yeah. Nothing else to bitch about now. Literally nothing else to bitch about.
SPEAKER_00But but don't be mad that you're a president as a pedophile. Exactly. But be mad about meat being sold.
SPEAKER_01But look, if you look it up like kosher versus um Halal, I mean, obviously there are gonna be, you know, some differences, but they're both actually cleaner. Yeah. And and probably better than the other meats.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, that's that's no take to like our whole. It's but honestly, like, why wouldn't you want to be more cautious about what you bring into your home? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Being organic versus non-organic, like you don't have to. Yeah, organic is, you know, gonna be a better option. That's really good. But it's gonna be a better option. So anyways, that is my rant. And you know, Muslims and non-Muslims, they're all going for it. There's a lot of people. This is just this is a very important thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, look at there's how many, how many food spots? I mean, because there's tons of food spots all around Houston. And I mean, you can drive down any given street and there's like, you know, the food trucks and stuff. 90% of them are halal. And I see them like busy. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Well, people are eating halal and not even realizing you're eating you know, a lot of you know, swarmas, yeah, kebabs, yeah, gyros, meditanian food. You know, you're eating it anyway. You don't even know you're eating it. Right. This has never been an issue in your life and it isn't now. It's just it's just chicken or whatever it is that you're eating. It's just it's it's prepared a different way, you know, or slaughtered a different way. Yeah. Better. Yeah. And it and the animals is it's more what you made slaughtered. I think that's more humane. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And um I mean, you're still killing it, so I I feel sorry to all the vegans out there. Right. I know, I know.
SPEAKER_01So well, poor little I mean I eat them. Yeah, me too. I just I don't want to see them slaughtered, but right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't want to see it happen. But it's just anyways. So that is my butt, but HTBE is the shit, and I love the stance that they have taken on so many issues. Very progressive.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. They are definitely on the right side of history. Well, then for um Pride Merch. I know.
SPEAKER_00I know. It's like and that's what made me like I already liked it because it kind of has like one's like a little bit of everything. Totally luxurious. Yeah. And um, they literally have everything, and everything is bomb. Like even like all their stuff that they make in-house is great. Yeah. And um, but when I during Pride, they had they had a bag, and I was like, hell yeah. Like no kidding.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's just it's nice to support a company that believes in, you know, diversity, division, yes, equality. Yeah, those are really nice things, right? And their cakes. Oh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I know they're so good. And so they're we know quite a few people that have worked for them or worked for them, and they treat their employees very well. Like, just get out of it. Kind, why? A company that cares.
SPEAKER_01They have to ruin everything. Like, what this is not, I mean, this is it's stupid. Don't worry, it's not gonna do anything. The the eight guys that are pissed because the chicken has a halal label that they've probably been buying this whole time and you can realize it. Yeah, let them boycott.
SPEAKER_00HTB doesn't need that hostility and just like Costco D, just like Costco, uh, please stop shopping there because then there's more space for me and I don't have the eight.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like a no-hate shopping for that. And I we welcome everybody who wants to be welcoming too.
SPEAKER_00Like it's not, you know, but Yeah, and wait, why not? Why is that such a problem? Like, that's again, we sound like a broken record, right? But just why is it an issue? Just to be like, hey, I don't agree with that, but cool. As long as you treat me right, I'm gonna treat you right. I don't, I don't I why is that such a hard concept for the way I see it is there is bigger fish to fry in the world, especially right now.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Let's worry about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's worry about that. Even about those things. Yeah. This kind of stuff is not it's not doing anything. It's not a good thing.
SPEAKER_01We've got kids going off to war. Yeah. Literally, right? We're drowning in credit card debt, drowning in medical debt, you know, like why do we why does America what?
SPEAKER_00What is it $1.7 trillion? Who the fuck do we owe? I don't know. And if if America owes that much, can you just add my debt to my defense? Yeah. What the hell?
SPEAKER_01Well, do you remember like I know we have to go in like a second, but do you remember um when like on threads and X and all this kind of stuff, they're like, um, I can't remember which country. They're like, they're gonna infiltrate your systems and wipe out your debt or whatever. Like, I was like, Don't threaten me.
SPEAKER_00My name is my credit phone number. Yeah, my social. You want my social? You want what do you need? Oh no, please don't wipe out my credit card debt. Our mortgage, cars.
SPEAKER_01Please do. Oh my gosh, please butt. Mm-hmm.
unknownPlease.
SPEAKER_01But I won't be mad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, what if anonymous, right? I don't know. I don't know who it was.
